What Flower to give

How do you choose the perfect flower?

First of all, you need to know what flowers symbolize. Almost every type of flower has its own individual meaning.
Throughout history, certain types of flowers have been used to symbolize different things. For example ROSES, in ancient times were a symbol of joy, later they became a symbol of secrecy and silence, and today Roses are associated with love and romance. If you don’t know what type of flower to buy you might want to decide what you want to say and choose the flower that says it better than you could ever do.
Here are some of the most common flowers:
Lilies
Most often associated with Easter, Lilies are a popular flower for weddings, funerals and as floral arrangements for home. They are available in a vast selection of colors. White Lilies are the most common ones to buy, they are symbols of beauty, purity and innocence, white lilies are most common used for weddings and funerals. The other common variety is the yellow lily which symbolizes happiness and gratitude.
Roses
The rose has been a symbol of love and desire, ever since ancient Greece, when mythological Aphrodite is believed to have presented a Rose to her son Eros, god of love. The official flower of England, the rose is perhaps the most versatile flower to give. Red Roses denoting love, white roses symbolizing innocence and silence, pink roses signifying friendship, and if you want to say something different, simply mix up the colors.
Carnations
Long lasting flowers, Carnations are the flower of choice for many professional florists. Also popular with flower purchasers, Carnations are relatively inexpensive, survive longer than their more delicate counterparts and come in a choice of colors. Due to the wide variety of colors, Carnations are a very versatile flower with pink carnations being the flower of choice for Mother’s Day, white carnations popular for weddings as well as adorning sympathy wreaths, and red carnations being used to express love and affection. Carnations can be given as a bouquet of just carnations or, as is more often the case, dressed with a few sprigs of white, lacy Baby’s Breath. Carnations are also used to complement other flowers, often small roses of a similar color, in a mixed bouquet.
Irises
Denoting friendship, help and faith, Irises (“also rainbow flower”) come in a variety of amazing colors. Once a symbol of faith to the ancient Greeks, more recently the iris has been associated with French nobility as the “Fleur-de-lis”. Irises are a popular choice of flowers due to their strong colors, fragrance, and delicate appearance. Irises are not immediately associated with romance so can safely be given to a friend or acquaintance.
