Floral Aroma

If you like the Aroma of your flowers and want to keep it for a long period, follow the process describe below:

  • Collect a large sack of your favorite flowers, pull off the petals and discard the stems. Let these dry out over a few days. Place the flowers in a potpourri pot with a small amount of water or fragrant oil. The heat from the pot will bring out all the scent possible from the petals. This is a great way to smell flowers all year long.
  • Pick your flower when it is in bloom. When a flower is in bloom it sends off a strong signals to bees that it is ready to be pollinated. This smell you love is also the smell that the insects love. A bloom guarantees a strong scent.
  • Look for bees around fresh flowers. If a flower is not inhabited by bees, it is a fair sign that it is passed its prime and not worth your time. The time of bloom coupled with the bee's pollination produces an even stronger aroma.
  • Keep your flower in fresh water constantly. This keeps the flower alive and fragrant for the longest amount of time possible. If your flower is open in a vase, it will smell its best.
  • Ask your local florist which flowers are in season locally. When flowers have to travel a great distance they lose a lot of their potency. If you choose local flowers, you will have a better chance of getting a more potent smell.
